Mbokam is a small 2.5-hectare estate in Embu County, Kenya, owned and cared for by Arthur and Josephine Mbogo. Established by Arthur’s father in the 1950s, the farm is now home to some 6,500 SL28 coffee trees alongside avocado, banana, macadamia and other food crops. Led by Josephine, Mbokam is farmed with a strong commitment to biodiversity and sustainability, using composted cattle manure rather than chemical fertilisers and a biodigester that transforms farm waste into biogas and organic fertiliser. With their own wet mill on the estate, Arthur and Josephine oversee their coffee from tree to processing, continually refining their practices in pursuit of exceptional quality.
